Wayne Metro

Executive Message

As I walked through the doors on my first day on the job as Controller for Wayne-Metro Community Action Agency, I was eager, energized and ready to go to work.  By the end of the day however, I had serious doubts whether I had made the right career decision.  My enthusiasm was hampered by the agency's financial state, the physical condition in which it had been left, and the poor status of community relationships.

As I looked around, I knew that in order to accomplish our goal to rebuild the agency we had a great deal of work to do and a great many hurdles to overcome.  I also knew that only a very special group of people could make it happen.  Fourteen years later that group has grown to include the more than two hundred talented and dedicated individuals that make up the Wayne-Metro workforce and the multitude of strong community partners that work with us each day.

I am both honored and moved that i have been entrusted to lead this exceptional organization.  I am committed to continued success on our current path as we work alongside our network of stakeholders.  And I feel that we can accomplish this by maintaining our high standard of service; growing our reputation for genuine care and concern; and leading the human service effort for Out-Wayne County.  But I am also very aware that the need is rapidly growing so our path must broaden.

Moving forward our work must include identifying new resources, generating new funding sources, and building new relationships that will lead to newer and better solutions.  Through these new ventures, Wayne-Metro will expand, enhance, and embrace the next level of challenges as we continue to carry out our mission to help people and change lives.

As I walk through the door today, I am still eager, energized and ready to go to work and as I look around and reflect on what we have accomplished my enthusiasm grows.  I look forward to working with you as we embark on our next set of challenges.
