What is the Community Baby Shower?
Expecting parents often find themselves feeling both overjoyed and a little overwhelmed. The Wayne Metro Community Baby Shower is a gathering where low-income mother and fathers to be, or those with infants up to three months of age, can get important information about caring for their newborn. The shower is also an opportunity for parents to receive much-needed items to help welcome their new baby.
Who can attend?
The Community Baby Shower is for low-income pregnant women or expecting fathers OR low-income mothers and fathers of infants less than 3 months old as of September 18, 2008.
Presentations
A major component of the Community Baby Shower is informational presentations about caring for newborns and infants.
Gifts and Prizes
Parents attending the Community Baby Shower will be eligible for free gifts and prize drawings if they arrive and check-in by the designated time.
How can I help?
The parents attending the Community Baby Shower lack the financial means to purchase needed items for their babies and typically do not receive a personal baby shower of their own. Wayne Metro is accepting cash donations to purchase car safety seats and other items to give as gifts at the Community Baby Shower. To make a secure tax-deductible donation online, click here. The average cost of a car seat is $50. We are also seeking in-kind items for our prize drawings. Some items we have had in the past are breast pumps, gift baskets, and more.
Wayne Metro is also accepting donations of brand new gender-neutral baby supplies including:
Diaper bags
Burp cloths and Cloth Diapers
Disposable Diapers
Bibs
Toys
Booties/Socks
Sleepers
Onesies
Blankets
