Thornton Park Subdivision in Ecorse

Thornton Park Subdivision.

Thornton Park in Ecorse was the first subdivision built by Wayne-Metropolitan Community Action Agency's subsidiary Excellent Construction. Before construction on Thornton Park began, the agency built only in-fill units. Thornton Park, a 22-unit single-family development has four different home models and eleven varying home elevations. The project began in October 1999, and was completed in May 2003.

The $2.6 million development included installation of a storm and sewer system, underground utilities, and street expansion. As a direct result of the new construction project, a MSHDA Neighborhood Preservation Project designation of $500,000 was also invested as a result in home repair, tree planning, park construction, and concrete work in the surrounding community.

The park built with funds from the Ecorse Neighborhood Preservation Program.

Key project partners included Wayne County, City of Ecorse, National City Bank, and Ecorse Public Schools.
