Homeless Youth Education Project
As the Michigan Department of Education's Homeless Services Grant Coordinator, Wayne-Metropolitan Community Action Agency, the lead agency in the Out-Wayne County Homeless Services Coalition employs a Youth Education Specialist who can provide support, trainings and technical assistance free of charge to teachers and school administrators. In addition, the Youth Education Specialist works with children and families to ensure that they receive the most appropriate educational and housing-related support.
Support Services include:
- Help with identifying homeless/marginally housed children
- One-on-one or group trainings
- Technical assistance
- Help with budget guidelines and appropriate usage of funds
- Transportation Coordination
- Linkages to resources and networking with local, community-based homeless, and social service agencies.
